George T. Baker Aviation School is located at 3275 N.W. 42 Avenue, adjacent to the Miami International Airport. The school is a public, tax-supported institution authorized by the Florida Department of Education and operated by the Miami-Dade County Public School System. It is accredited by the Council on Occupational Education (COE) and the National Center for Aircraft Technician Training (NCATT) and is certificated by the Federal Aviation Administration under Part 147 of the Federal Aviation Regulations. Certificate # CT9T072R.

Congratulations to our school counselor, Ms. Sigillo.  She was recently elected as Vice President of the Dade Counseling Association.  Ms. Sigillo works closely with our students to ensure that they are making progress, not only at Baker Aviation, but at their home school as well.  She rountinly goes out of her way in support of ours students.

High School students Mr. Carlos Rodriguez, Mr. Juan Dayne Cruz,  and Mr. Christian Harris have been accepted to attend an all expense paid summit, “Adventures of the Mind” at Princeton University in NJ from August 20-23, 2009.  The "Adventures of the Mind" mentoring summit is a gathering dedicated to making a difference in the lives of promising your people.  They will have the opportunity to meet with 50 incredible adults who have done things that most of us have only dreamed about!

We are pleased to announce that numerous Baker students won numerous awards at the Florida Technology Student Association this year.  Students will be traveling to Denver, CO to compete in the National Competitions.  Those who will be going to Nationals include: 1st Place Engineering Design (Christian Harris, Carlos Rodriguez, and Juan Cruz) and 3rd Place Electronics Research and Experimentation (Jimmy Benitez, Juan Dorado, Aasim Malik, and Joshua Acosta).  Congrats!

Ronnie Jones, Adult Student, wins HAI Scholarship PDF Print E-mail

Congratulations to adult student, Ronnie Jones.  Ronnie was selected by the Helicopter Association International's (HAI) for the 2009 Bill Sanderson Aviation Maintenance Technician Scholarship.  He will review manufacturer's training at Pratt & Whitney.  He also will recieve $750 to assist with travel and accommodations, complimentary registration to HELI-EXPO 2010 in Houston, TX, and membership in the Helicopter Association International.  Great job Ronnie!
